Trican expands into the US Bakken

May 17, 2012

Frac Pumper

Trican has established a base of operations in Minot, North Dakota, which will provide fracturing services to the oil-rich Bakken formation. Trican expects to be ready for operations in May of 2012. Trican currently employs a crew of 28 people at the Minot base. This number will grow in step with operational growth and as we expand our services to include our coiled tubing and cementing service lines, among others.

Trican’s expansion into the US Bakken is consistent with the company’s strategy of becoming a geographically diverse, full service pressure pumping company within the United States, and in all its key resource plays.

Trican currently operates in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Pennsylvania.

Trican has established a Research and Development Centre in Moscow as part of a long term agreement with Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. The facility will focus on enhancing oil and gas production through the development of new technology for drilling and completion applications throughout Russia and surrounding areas.

The inauguration ceremony took place on March 16, 2012 with Michael Kelly, Senior Vice President, EAME & CIS, along with the Rector of the University, Mr. V.G. Martynov, cutting the red ribbon, and included a presentation by Jim Venditto, Trican Vice President, Technical Services.

The Russia-based R&D Centre will contribute to Trican’s overall commitment to innovation and technology. Along with Trican’s R&D Centre in Calgary, Alberta and the recently-opened centre in Houston, Texas, the Moscow R&D Centre will help Trican develop solutions to support customers in producing their wells safely and efficiently, and reduce the impact of our operations on the environment.
